Blind Mime Ensemble VS Nilsson Sanchez – (The Point Is) Variations On a Beaten Bongo

Nilsson pulled me aside yesterday and pointed to a small set of bongos he had on his desk at work and wanted me to record him for another track and this album of variations is the result.

I recorded Nilsson playing a short pattern on these bongos with my iPhone and uploaded that to Sunoai and set about creating a number of tracks by extending the pattern and apply different styles to set the ebb and flow of the album.

Nilsson has a habit of saying, “The point is,” and we’d been laughing about that for a week, so I wrote some lyrics around that as well. More of a repeated refrain than a complete lyric. This is referred to somewhere before the middle section and then at the end in thee extended reggae inspired finalé.
