The High-Beams – Daydream (cassette, 1997)

GAJOOB Review by Bryan Baker, 6/21/1998:

This tape came wrapped in a self-made container of tinfoil and card stock, with a couple labels placed on the front and colored in with a marker. It looks like my copy may have been dubbed over a children’s story tape, as that part of it is left over (or perhaps it’s part of the tape, ‘cos it seems to start at the beginning. . . not sure). The music, anyway, is a schizo mesh of strummed pop/folk and noisy feedback rhythms. Within all this, it’s the songs that make it stand up on its own, making The High-Beams a band to watch.

Media: cassette.

There seems to be structure; but it’s obliterated by a mix that strangles the music when the vocalist comes in.gajoobzine.com/albums/rrope-vienna-noise-choir-split-vinyl-1994/
