C. Mehrl Bennett is a multidisciplinary artist based in Columbus, Ohio, whose work encompasses assemblage, collage, mail art, performance, sound, and writing. Her artistic journey began in 1977, and since then, she has been an active participant in the international mail art community.
Bennett’s practice is deeply rooted in the Fluxus and Dada traditions, often collaborating with contemporary artists in these movements. Her creations include artistamps, visual poetry, and experimental performances. Notably, she co-authored and performed “Flux Mass,” a ritualistic performance blending elements of Fluxus art with traditional liturgical practices.
As an associate editor and book designer for Luna Bisonte Prods, Bennett has contributed to publications focusing on visual and concrete poetry. Her own book, “It’s a Poem or an Event or Maybe Both,” showcases a collection of postcards, artist stamps, drawings, Fluxus scores, and visual poetry, reflecting her diverse artistic endeavors.
